Thank you for asking, Ayana!! Humans are naturally 'imitation machines' since our senses still largely determine our behavior; however, critical thinking allows us to transcend those animal instincts.
What makes each human unique is our particular sequence of senses, inputs, and desires—which we can modify, reject, or double down on using action to steer ourselves through the world. I hope my work shows that it is possible to move beyond these inputs to consciously shape our development. Provided there is an awareness of 'self,' that awareness can lead to true identity. Though, "true" may look ever-evolving to us.
